Post from the Past - Give Kids and Teachers a Voice

This was posted on one of my blogs in January of 2009 but it is still relevant today. These students are now 7th graders. This shows just how long Ann Marie Corgill @acorgill has been advocating for children, teachers and education!

Here is a great example of giving kids a voice. Here are the Corgill Kids-1st graders, sending a message to President Obama and the Secretary of Education.

Teach Inside a Google Form

Google Forms are quite powerful. Our teachers use them to collect information, easily collect links to assignments, assess, collect votes, share information, and more. You can make your form even more powerful by embedding a quick tutorial video explanation right in the form. In this example, I embedded a screencastify video right inside the form. Once made, screencastify lets you upload the video to YouTube  and the Google form has just the place for a url link.  See the form example here

See the process here or http://youtu.be/8hL3O_VFg-Q.

You can use this same process to upload videos for students to reflect on, learn from, etc. Now go make some interactive forms!

Tech Tools? How about selectivity

Found this on  @NicoleNaditz blog post regarding Tools and I LOVE it.

" The single best tool in the teacher’s belt is the ability to be selective: there is no ONE best tool; only the ability to evaluate all the available tools and thoughtfully select the right tool for thisgroup of students at this time to accomplish this task–and to do so in a way better than it could be accomplished without the tool."

She goes on to talk about teaching students selectivity as well--in choosing search terms, tools to use, and so much more. You can read the rest of the blog post here
